What type of skin is often prone to acne and breakouts?

Oily skin is often prone to acne and breakouts because it produces excess sebum, which can clog pores. The sebaceous glands in oily skin are more active, leading to an overproduction of oil that, when combined with dead skin cells and bacteria, creates an environment conducive to the formation of acne. This overabundance of oil can also lead to the development of blackheads and whiteheads, common manifestations of acne.

In contrast, normal skin tends to maintain a healthy balance between oil and moisture, making it less prone to breakouts. Sensitive skin may react to various stimuli, which can lead to inflammation or irritation but does not inherently produce excess oil. Dry skin, on the other hand, lacks sufficient sebum production, which generally helps in preventing acne; however, it can create a different set of skin issues related to lack of hydration.
